Wren with wings spread, South Wales

Patience is the only technique that matters. Hours in one spot, waiting for an animal that might not show. When it does, you get seconds.

Birds

Welsh wetlands, rivers, and the Brecon Beacons in winter. The swan was the hardest shot on this page — backlit, fast, and gone in two seconds.

Water Voles

A long-running project on the waterways around South Wales. They're fast, they're shy, and they're disappearing. Getting close enough to photograph them without disturbing them takes time and a lot of still mornings.

Wildlife Videography

Some moments need more than a single frame. Video captures the behaviour — the stalk, the flight, the feed — in a way a photograph can only hint at.

I shoot film and digital, medium format and 35 mm, stills and video. I am a photographer, first and foremost. Landscapes, street, tourism, events, portraits, commercial — the variety is the point. Different subjects demand different approaches, and I pick the right one for yours.
